We are a family owned GP Practice located in Goonellabah NSW.
We provide comprehensive GP care a caring team for the local are.
At Gum Tree Family Medical we work as a team. From our reception staff to our nurses and doctors, we aim to maintain and provide the highest standard of medicine and care in a professional, confidential and caring manner. It is our desire to provide the medical care that we would like to receive ourselves.
Gum Tree Family Medical opened in February 2021, we have several modern, light and fresh consulting rooms along with a large treatment room. The waiting room is large, light and comfortable. There is ample parking available along with disability parking. The practice is wheelchair accessible.
This practice has a no smoking policy.

Dr Mercia Van Jaarsveld
Dr Mercia Van Jaarsveld is South African trained and has been a practicing GP since 2002 in both medical clinics and hospitals.
Mercia practiced in Canada for 13 years before moving to the Northern Rivers with her family in 2018. She has been a GP in Lismore for the last 5 years.
She has a special interest in general family medicine, women’s health, antenatal care, surgical procedures and emergency medicine.
Dr Douglas Mouncey
Dr Doug Mouncey has practised in the Northern Rivers for the last 25 years and has lived on the North Coast for 43 years.
Having obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery at the University of New South Wales, he is a highly experienced GP with a special interest in skin cancer medicine.
He has a passion for delivering high-quality, tailored care to his patients in the Northern Rivers community.
Dr Zahra Rabet
Dr Zahra Rabet is a qualified medical doctor who graduated from one of Iran’s leading medical universities. She brings substantial experience from both hospital-based and private clinical practice.
Dr Rabet has developed clinical expertise in psychiatry and mental health, dermatology, women’s health, and the long-term management of chronic conditions such as diabetes and hypertension. Her practice is grounded in evidence-based medicine, with a strong focus on accurate diagnosis, preventive care, and ongoing follow-up to support her patients’ health journeys.
She is committed to delivering high-quality, ethical, and patient-centered care, helping patients achieve better health outcomes and improve their quality of life through a compassionate and personalised approach
